A silly question, I know, but, can somebody publish a close up picture of the propeller and boss on a Hurricane so that I can see which way the prop twists. It isn't clear in my Maly kit, and I can't find a picture anywhere. There is one at Cosford, but I didn't want to wait THAT long.

Ahhhhh, thanks Bleriot........... I always though that there was a 'twist' along the prop, but it looks to be a straight blade just mounted 'twisted'. I can see how to set them now. The props in the kit are too thin I feel, so I've beefed them up s bit by using card. Thanks again, now I can carry on and stick the bits together ..... fingers crossed now>smile<

Now then, here's where I'm at........... the fuselarge is going together okay, but, before I started covering the wings I thought I'd just ask you plane builders out there "what is the best procedure to glue the skin over the formers?"......... should I glue the trailing edge together first? (and if so, how do I avoid getting that 'flat' strip along the edge?) ..... should I wrap the skin around the formers and then glue it, or should I make the skin into a tube and then slide the former inside?..... the picture is what I've got now.....

I await your pearls of wisdom............. Malc

Personally, I always line up and glue the top skin of the wing first and then the lower skin. Starting with the trailing edge. Reason being that if the upper wing surface is lined up and glued correctly, if anything is then out on the underside, any adpatations you have to make won't be as visible.

These are usually a tight fit so I don't think gluing the skin into a tube first and sliding it over the frame will be an option.

Thanks Steve........ doing a 'dry' run and I can see that the formers need to be reduced a little, as the trailing edges don't meet at the end of the former. Is there a special way to stick the trailing edge, so as not to get a flat all along it? I did wonder if it was a good idea to put a gluing strip along that edge to glue them 'edge to edge' using the strip. Maybe with cigarette paper as the strip?... Any thoughts?

If not allready provided, a gluing strip is a good idea but you'll want to do it so that the strip has a fold along it's center line. In cross section, the strip is a 'V' shape with the center fold being along the trailing edge... if that makes sense.

Yes, I understand what you mean. I too am surprised that there is no glueing strips for any of the air foil surfaces. I've already glued the tailplane 'edge to edge' before I looked at the wings. I guess I should use a thin paper for the strip rather than card so there is less chance of seeing it along the fixed trailing edge. The instructions are so spares with this kit, that I just keep looking over the sheets to see what should be done next and what parts are left. Oh what joy :-) and I thought plastic was fun........
